Our Finals weekend opened on Saturday morning with a drawn pairs match between Freda Holt and Alan Sherrock against Margaret Harding and Ron Nettleton.  This proved to be an exceeding tight game that was eventually decided in favour of Freda and Alan by one shot after an extra end had been required to separate the two pairs.

Meanwhile, over at Chesham Bowling Club, Chris Nash and Chris Wellsted were playing a pair from Broadway in the Final of the Chesham Town Cup.  Although they put up a respectable showing, the title went to the Broadway pair by 12 shots.

In the afternoon, the focus was fully back at Chess Vale.  In the Men’s Championship, Chris Nash gained his first success of the weekend by defeating Chris Wellsted.  In the Ladies Championship, Sheila Clarke came out on top against Dee Sherrock.  The final game was the Plate Competition.  In this game, Margaret Harding took her first victory of the weekend by defeating Freda Holt.

On Sunday morning, it was the Nominated Pairs Final.  Dave Holt and Chris Wellsted were the reigning Champions but were unable to retain their title going down to Chris Nash and Margaret Harding.

In the Handicap Final, Kevin Jones made the running for a large part of the match but was overhauled by Chris Nash in the last couple of ends who thus won his third title.

Our Finals were concluded on Monday evening with the Mixed Triple which had been held over from earlier in the Summer. The match was decided on the final end with victory going to Brian Rogers, Janet Gehrig and Chris Nash
