ABOUT CHESS VALE BOWLING CLUB
This Club has a long tradition in Chesham having been founded in 1931 at a site adjacent to Chesham Station. We have been at our existing site in Asheridge Road since 2005. The Club is open to all and welcomes all new members from beginners through to experienced bowlers. There is a wide range of friendly and competitive fixtures throughout the Summer to cater for all preferences. There are also a number of Club Days giving members the opportunity to play in some one-off competitions. We are situated in a very picturesque location just below Captains Wood and our current site offers a substantial amount of off-road parking with an ample clubhouse that incorporates excellent facilities including a bar that is open on match days. The artificial green provides bowling facilities all year round and has been designed to produce a high level of accuracy. This is supported by the fact that it has been used by the England and Jersey bowling teams for training purposes prior to them taking part in International Competitions. It was similarly used by the Senior England Ladies squad during 2019. The main Summer Season takes place from April through to the end of September. The possession of an artificial surface enables us to offer a Winter League on Sunday mornings from October to March. It is also possible to join as a Winter Member for the same period and gain access to the Green throughout the Winter. This involves many of the club members and is also well supported by other local clubs.
There is a range of social activities throughout the year including Quiz Nights, Bingo etc and members are able to take advantage of our monthly Sunday lunches that take place during the Winter period.
Coaching – The Club currently has five qualified coaches who will offer coaching or training to all potential, new or existing members..
Disabled access – We have full disabled access to the rink/clubhouse. A disabled toilet is situated within the clubhouse.
New Members – Full details of the membership fees will be advised to you prior to your application to join. In the first year, the membership fee will be 50% of the normal annual subscription. Once you have paid your subscription and registration fee, you will received a club shirt and cap and will have access to the clubhouse and rink at all times throughout the year.
