This week, we travelled just down the road to play our neighbours from Chesham Bowls Club. It was a very close match with the home side winning on three ends to Chess Vale’s two. However, the aggregate score went in favour of Chess Vale by the narrowest of margins with a final score of 75-73. Top rink for Chess Vale was Margaret Baker, Alan Sherrock and Brian Rogers.
On Tuesday, we opened our Watford Vets League programme with an away match at Bushey and our usual thrashing. We were not encouraged by the home team seeming to revel in the fact that the Green hadn’t been cut for five days and was also quite damp. Needless to say, we struggled on the heavy Green and were defeated by 63-17. However, looking on the bright side, we only totalled 9 shots in last year’s match so we are making progress!
